PayPal is cost effective in collecting donations, and here is why:
As good stewards of the Lord’s resources, we strive to pay as little as possible in banking fees. The cost for setting up our website to accept credit card donations is very expensive. We would have to have a SSL license (which sets up a secure portion of our domain to accept secure transactions), which costs between $150.00 and $250.00 per year. We would also need a clearing house to accept credit card donations, which would be another $75.00-$150.00 per year. Additionally, a transaction fee and a percentage (2.5% – 4%) is charged for each transaction. Then, the bank charges another fee of 3% – 5% for each transaction. All of these fees and percentages add up to a large portion of each donation that could be used effectively elsewhere!
PayPal, on the other hand, only charges a small fee plus a 2%-3.5% fee per transaction. Using PayPal works out better, saving us from paying a lot of unnecessary fees.
Conveniently, PayPal does not require our donors to have a PayPal account in order to donate to us. PayPal allows us to not only accept credit card donations, but also offers the options for a donor to use either an eCheck or a direct transfer from a member´s checking account. PayPal also protects the donor by preventing anyone from viewing their bank or credit card information. This protects from possible identity theft.
However, anyone who does not want to use PayPal to contribute to our ministry may make a donation by personal check. To make a tax deductible donation by check, just write the check to the <bKing James Bible Baptist Church, designating the purpose of the donation, and mail it to:
